Privacy Policy

Tellr runs a managed visibility program for brands: we place them in the Reddit threads, search results and AI answers their buyers read, write and publish articles for their sites, and analyse the ads in their category. This policy explains what we collect to do that, why, who else sees it, and how long we keep it. It covers usetellr.com, the Tellr dashboard and client workspaces, and the Tellr connector for AI assistants. Questions: team@usetellr.com.

What we collect from you

• Your account. Email address, name if you give one, and which workspace you belong to. We use it to sign you in and to contact you about your account.
• What you tell us about your brand. Your website, what you sell, your voice and guidelines, keywords, competitors, authors, and anything in your knowledge base. This is what we write from.
• Your work in Tellr. The threads we find, the comments and posts we draft, what you approved and what went live; the articles, images and animations we produce for you; the citations, outreach and ad analyses in your workspace.
• Connections you set up. A WordPress application password if you let us publish to your site, a Google sign-in if you send outreach from Gmail, and a credential for any AI assistant you connect. Each is covered below.
• Billing. Invoices, payments, and — for accounts on our former pay-as-you-go plan — the wallet balance and what each comment drew from it. We never see or store your card details; those go straight to our payment processor.
• Meetings. If you book a call with us, the name, email and answers you give in the booking form.
• How you found us. If you arrive from an ad or a campaign link, the campaign details and whether you came from a phone or a desktop, so we know which marketing works.
• Basic usage and errors. Which pages loaded, which emails you opened, and diagnostic logs when something breaks.

We do not collect special-category data (health, biometrics, political or religious views), and we ask you not to put any into your knowledge base.

Public information we read for you

Most of what Tellr works with is already public. To run your program we read Reddit threads and comments, Google search results and AI Overviews, answers from AI assistants, pages that rank for your keywords, public review sites, app store listings, and public ad libraries. These can include the public usernames of the people who wrote them. We use them to decide where your brand should appear and what to say, not to build profiles of individuals.

People who are not our customers

• Authors and editors of pages that cite your competitors. When you ask us to find who to contact about a page, we look for the author or editor on the page itself, on the site's contact page, and through a business-contact database. We store their name, role and work email in your workspace so you can write to them.
• Businesses we contact about Tellr. We email a small number of companies about our own service, using business contact details from a business-contact database. Every such email has an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
• People who ask us to remove a post. The details you give in our removal form, used only to handle the request.

If you are one of these people and want your details deleted or not used, email team@usetellr.com and we will do it.

If you connect Gmail

You can send outreach from your own Gmail account. When you connect it, Google asks you to grant two permissions: send email on your behalf, and view email metadata (headers such as sender, recipient, subject and date — not message bodies or attachments).

• What we do with it. We send the outreach emails you write or approve in Tellr, and their scheduled follow-ups. We read the metadata of those threads only to see whether the recipient replied, so that we stop following up.
• What we never do. We don't read your other email, we don't send anything you haven't approved, we don't sell Google data, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't use it to train AI models. People at Tellr don't look at it, except with your permission, for security, or where the law requires.
• How it is stored. Your Google tokens are encrypted before they are stored. Disconnect from your workspace, or revoke access in your Google account, and we stop immediately.

Tellr's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

If you connect WordPress

You can let us publish articles straight to your site. We store the application password you create for us, and read your site's categories, tags and authors so articles are filed correctly. Articles go up as drafts unless you turn on direct publishing. Delete the application password in WordPress, or remove it from your workspace, and our access ends.

If you connect an AI assistant

You can connect Claude, or another assistant that speaks MCP, to your workspace. We store a credential for that connection and the time it was last used — never anything the assistant said to you, and never your conversation with it. The assistant reads only your own workspace, only what the permission you granted allows, and only when you ask it something. You can disconnect it at any time, which stops its access immediately.

Who else sees it

We share the minimum needed to run the service, and we don't sell your data to anyone, ever.

• Publishing partners. When you approve a comment or post, its text and the target thread go to the partners who publish it on Reddit from established accounts on our behalf.
• AI providers. Large-language-model providers draft and score text from your brand brief and the material being answered; an image and video model provider generates visuals. Our language-model providers do not train their models on data sent through their APIs.
• Search and web data providers. Search-data and web-scraping providers read search results, web pages, reviews and ad libraries for us. They receive the search term or URL, not your account.
• Contact data. A business-contact database receives a name and company domain when we look up who to contact.
• Infrastructure and operations. Providers for our database and sign-in, hosting, payments, email delivery, error diagnostics, internal documents and meeting booking.
• Advertising measurement. If you arrived from an ad, we tell the ad platform that a signup or booking happened. Your email is hashed before it is sent.

These providers mostly process data in the United States. We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to a buyer if the business is sold — in which case this policy travels with it.

How long we keep it

Your account and workspace data stay for as long as your account is open, or until you ask us to delete them. Billing records are kept for seven years because tax law requires it. Diagnostic logs are kept for around 90 days. Connection credentials are deleted when you disconnect them.

Comments that have been published on Reddit, and articles published to your site, are public on those platforms. Closing your Tellr account does not remove them — ask us and we will request removal from Reddit, which is subject to Reddit's and each subreddit's rules.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything in it. Email team@usetellr.com and we'll action it within 30 days. Depending on where you live you may have further rights, including to object to processing or to complain to your data-protection authority. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link that works immediately; you'll still get essential messages about your account and billing.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to the people who need it to run the service. Credentials for connected assistants are stored only as a one-way hash, and Google tokens are encrypted, so neither can be read back from the database.

Children

Tellr is a business service and is not meant for anyone under 18.
